A date is the most common mark on anything sold today. 666 is a date that no man might buy or sell without the mark. What started? What calendar? The mark for the Julian calendar is 44BC. The Hijri year, 622CE, is 666 on the calendar that was being used. The beginning of Islam.

A prophecy of what is to come. All subject to interpretation by those who have an agenda. Who doesn’t? Only history can confirm the fulfillment of prophecy and only numbers can be trusted to identify those historical events that have been prophesied. Use them along with maybe colors.

A reason to use numbers and history. All 60 English translations agree on numbers like thousand, 666, ten, seven, and five. There are way too many interpretations on what has been prophesied. Historians have a better record. They are less likely to have an agenda.

A reasonable explanation for what has survived. Eusebius and Victorinus have a problem with the seven churches. Victorinus doesn’t mention them in his commentary. Eusebius mentions six of them but never associates them with the Apocalypse. The original version did not have them.
