A Calculation

A significant difference.  Fifteen English bibles count the number 666.  Twenty eight calculate it.  Too bad they don’t agree.  It forces us to choose who got it right.  How do you count a number?  Calculating a number makes more sense especially if you are dealing with a date and different calendars.  Our best clue is Daniel referring to number of years.  We have to consider whether or not the year 666 fits with the other numbers.

A Year

A date, a beginning, a start, a mark.  Nearly every product sold today has a date marking its beginning.  The word “number” in Daniel refers to years.  Historians are good at ignoring what may have happened in the year 666 but we do know Islam was getting ready to attack Constantinople about that time.

A Prophecy

A number to connect them.  Can’t trust anyone’s interpretation.  Only numbers and history can confirm the fulfillment of prophecy.  There are 60 different English translations of the bible but they all agree on numbers like a thousand years.  They also agree on “ten horns” and “seven heads”.  Numbers and history won’t mislead you like interpretation.

A Mystery

a misinterpretation.  Even Peter knew he was in Babylon.  Some are still looking for his bones south of Baghdad.  That is the real mystery but Rome having seven hills was never a mystery.  The seven hills of Constantinople is still a mystery and likely to remain so.  It will never fit with their narrative.
