a teenager

A Need of Advice –

A time to listen and think. It gets better. Appreciate who you are, what you have, and what you can be. Ask questions. It is a time to learn which is fun. Read as much as you can. Forget everything else, just read.

Daily writing prompt
What advice would you give to your teenage self?

a bore

A Lack of Learning –

A time to think. Not having something to think about is boring. Learning is happiness. Hated studying. Loved trying to solve a problem. Looking for the answer was always exciting. You have to believe there is an answer.

Daily writing prompt
What bores you?

a gift of Faith

A Reason To Believe –

A necessary gift. The best one. Can I lose it? I don’t think so but I am told it is possible. Appreciation is important. I believe you won’t lose what is appreciated. Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you.

Daily writing prompt
Share one of the best gifts you’ve ever received.

a budget

A Savings Account –

A teenager who saved. Two older brothers who didn’t and would have to borrow from me about early spring. My approach to budgeting is very simple, just save as much as you can. Borrowed only for school, car, and home. Others would have to borrow from me.

Daily writing prompt
Write about your approach to budgeting.

a patriot

A Love Of Country –

A third place. Right after God and family. “Render unto Caesar...” Your second obligation, right after God is your family which needs a father and a mother to protect the child. You can’t trust the village or Marx. If you are not a patriot, you are a wannabe immigrant who has given up.

Daily writing prompt
Are you patriotic? What does being patriotic mean to you?

a broken law

A Love Of Neighbor –

A gift of Charity is required, I think. It is a test you know you are going to unintentionally fail. You can’t love whom you can’t forgive which is required to be forgiven, I think. You can always ask for the gift of Charity.

Daily writing prompt
Have you ever unintentionally broken the law?

a thinker

A Title –

A biography. Spent more time thinking than doing. Maybe should have spent more time listening. Asking questions. Looking for answers. Always believed there were answers. You just had to look for them. Found history late in life. The missing link. Found my job. I think.

a difficult question

A Problem With Thinking And Listening –

A parent at my current age, my father, was still telling me, “sometimes we think too much” and “don’t forget to listen”. Now I spend a lot of time thinking about why I don’t get a hearing aid. I don’t like what I am hearing.

Daily writing prompt
What were your parents doing at your age?

a dream home

A Front Porch –

A back porch. Rocking chairs. Roses and daylilies. A dog to keep the rabbits from eating my crocuses. Dogwood and Red Bud trees. A wood stove in the basement underneath the kitchen. Lots of windows. A bird feeder. A birdbath. An outdoor cat. Who could ask for more?

Daily writing prompt
Write about your dream home.

a first thing

A Beer –

A celebration. Rejoice and be happy. Good news must be passed on to whomever you meet. It must be shared. Let them know. Happiness is possible. It is a gift to be appreciated. Show that. Something to think about.

Daily writing prompt
You get some great, amazingly fantastic news. What’s the first thing you do?
