a memorable 24 hr road trip

A Drive Through The Night –

A car full of teenagers. I was the oldest and the only male. My sister couldn’t come home from college so I got to take our sister, two cousins, and a friend to visit her. That’s four girls. A lot of responsibility for someone so young. It was spring break in Fort Lauderdale and I got into the Elbow Room with someone else’s ID. That’s memorable.

a good snack with coffee

A Chocolate Chip Cookie –

A black coffee with no sugar. A good way to start the day. A good chance to talk about coffee. Colombian coffee without a noisy grinder but with a five dollar, five cup Mr. Coffee maker and distilled water. I have to be careful to leave her two cups. All I need now is something to talk about.

What snack would you eat right now?

a crazy business idea

A Stupid Post –

A world on fire. The flood was bad enough. A going out of business sale. A significant reduction in the price of truth. Now everyone can afford it for the first time. While supplies last. Get yours before we run out of it.

Come up with a crazy business idea.

a long life

A Time To Reflect –

A slow death. Having already exceeded life expectancy, you have to avoid doctors who want to fix it even though you are not suffering. More doctor visits, more tests, more procedures that don’t sound as scary as an operation, etc. No thank you.

Daily writing prompt
What are your thoughts on the concept of living a very long life?

a change

A New Routine –

A time to listen. A time to think. Is it possible to spend less time thinking and more time listening? Not if you don’t like what you are hearing. That’s what I think.

Daily writing prompt
What could you do differently?

a known past

A Future That is Unknown –

A way to learn. We are not prophets. We can only learn from history what works and what doesn’t. Think about the past and hope for a better future that will avoid the problems with the past.

Daily writing prompt
Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?

a time to play

A Cat Knows When –

A time to chase anything that moves. If you are not sleeping or eating, it is playtime. If you are not a cat, playtime might include connecting the dots, investigating or sniffing what is new and how it is related. Call it research. It is playtime.

Daily writing prompt
Do you play in your daily life? What says “playtime” to you?

a sounding brass

A Tinkling Cymbal –

A gift of Charity is needed. The biggest challenge of all is loving my neighbor. The one who does things differently. The gift of understanding and faith is not enough.

Daily writing prompt
What are your biggest challenges?

a cell phone

A Ball and Chain –

A chance to be alone to reflect on what is important. The past can get in the way of an optimistic future. You can’t go home but you can lose what was good about the past. All of it interferes with the present.
