Only a prophet can predict the future. Only a historian can confirm the fulfillment of a prophecy. Only numbers can confirm what fits history. Use them all.

Maybe the prophecy is about the first coming and not the second one. This is a reasonable explanation. Putting that which must shortly come to pass into the future 2000 years later is not reasonable.
