A common number with 60 different English translations of the bible. Your interpretation can’t be trusted but numbers in the bible can. They can be used to connect historical events to what has been prophesied. Use them all: 1000, 666, 12, 10, 7, and 5.

A Historian
A civil and religious yoke of the Koran. Gibbon gets us close to 666 and if you use his “46 years” with an Islamic calendar converter, you get exactly 666. His problem with dates is noted. The Hijri marks the beginning of Islam, 622CE, or 666 with 44BC as the mark of the Julian calendar.

A Greek Fire
A sea of glass mingled with fire. The Sea of Marmara was like a sheet of glass and Constantinople used Greek Fire to defeat the Muslim attackers. The year was 666. Gibbon has a problem with dates.

A Significant Number
A date is the most common mark on anything sold today. 666 is a date that no man might buy or sell without the mark. What started? What calendar? The mark for the Julian calendar is 44BC. The Hijri year, 622CE, is 666 on the calendar that was being used. The beginning of Islam.

A thousand years where they reigned with Christ. The “reign of Christ” can be found on the internet but not in the bible. You can find the Byzantine Empire where Christians reigned with Christ a thousand years. This is a good place to start. We shall see if the other numbers fit.

A prophecy of what is to come. All subject to interpretation by those who have an agenda. Who doesn’t? Only history can confirm the fulfillment of prophecy and only numbers can be trusted to identify those historical events that have been prophesied. Use them along with maybe colors.

A Lack of Agreement
A reason to use numbers and history. All 60 English translations agree on numbers like thousand, 666, ten, seven, and five. There are way too many interpretations on what has been prophesied. Historians have a better record. They are less likely to have an agenda.

A Conjecture
A reasonable explanation for what has survived. Eusebius and Victorinus have a problem with the seven churches. Victorinus doesn’t mention them in his commentary. Eusebius mentions six of them but never associates them with the Apocalypse. The original version did not have them.

A third John who was in Ephesus at the beginning of the fifth century replacing seven corrupt bishops. At this time Jerome was finishing the Vulgate and it would include the Apocalypse. Also at this time five of the seven dynasties of Rome had fallen. Three Johns in the first chapter. Count them.

A Beloved Apostle
A second John who knew the seven churches which are in Asia. If Paul found followers of John the Baptist in Ephesus, so did John the Apostle who would write to the seven churches adding Jesus to what was originally written by John the Baptist.
