A beginning. A date is the most common mark on any product sold today. Consider 666 as a mark or a date. What happened in that year? What calendar? The Gregorian started in 1582 or the Julian starting at 44 BC or the Islamic calendar starting in 622? Consider them all.

A Word to the Wise –
A final chapter. These sayings are faithful and true. The translators not so much. They couldn’t agree so we have 60 different English translations with many more revisions. Lord, to whom shall we go? Good question Peter. Not everyone has been properly inspired so some of us must rely on numbers and maybe colors. This is where the translators actually agree.

A Writer Named John –
A confirmation that the Apostle wrote the Apocalypse was needed for it to be in the bible today. Chrysostom was in Ephesus when Jerome was finishing the Vulgate. Many didn’t believe it was written by the Apostle and therefore didn’t belong in the bible. Thanks to Jerome we have it in the bible today.

A Life Eternal –
A consequence of the choices we make. Beware of the second death. Fear only God who can destroy the soul. He knows your works. You are what you do. Talk is cheap. Walk the talk and avoid the second death. You can live forever with God. Just readeth, watcheth, keepeth and overcometh.

John Chrysostom, who never quoted the Apocalypse, was in Ephesus at the beginning of the fifth century and Jerome was finishing his Vulgate. Was Chrysostom able to confirm that the Apocalypse was written by the Apostle?

Knock and it will be open unto you. The Truth will not only set you free, It will make you happy. It will help you pass the final test. We are being tested. You may not find that word in your bible.

A Servant of God –
A “lamb” and the “bare record” ties John the Baptist to the Apocalypse. Vischer holds the Apocalypse to have been originally a purely Jewish composition. It would not have included the seven churches that Eusebius and Victorinus failed to recognize. There is a reasonable explanation why they didn’t.
