a holy place

A Temple

A beast of Daniel.  Something to do with the Temple.  Babylon destroyed the first Temple.  Greece desecrated the second Temple which was destroyed by Rome.  Islam is preventing the third Temple with the Dome of the Rock.  This is what makes a beast a beast of Daniel.

a diverse beast

A Common Trait

A distinctive difference.  “Ten horns” connects the beasts of John and Daniel.  John has it, not he, with “two horns like a lamb”.  This beast is a religion.  All four beasts of Daniel had something to do with the temple.  Babylon, Greece, Rome, and Islam.  Daniel has the clues to identify the beasts of John.

a seventh hill

A Great Wall Of Theodosius

A fulfillment of prophecy.  Constantinople, the new Rome, didn’t always have seven hills but it did in the fifth century when Theodosius extended the walls of the city to include the seventh hill.  This has been a “mystery” for most but everyone knew about the “merchants”.  Few are aware of this thousand year empire.

a great city

A Mystery And Likely To Remain So

A perfect fit in history.  Constantinople.  No other city has all these characteristics:  many waters 17:1, mystery 17:5, seven hills 17:9, merchants 18:11, is fallen, is fallen 18:2, and can be found no more at all 18:21.  Constantinople was the capital of a Christian empire that lasted a thousand years.

a white horse

A Rainbow

A covenant between God and man.  Constantine from the Aegean white sea is the rider of the white horse.  He started a Christian empire that would last a thousand years.  Its capital, Constantinople is a perfect fit for Babylon the Great.  Can be found no more.

a mystery

A Great City

A whore hated by the beast with ten horns.  Constantinople can be found no more at all.  It is a mystery and likely to remain so.  It is the only city to satisfy all the characteristics of Babylon the Great: seven hills, many waters, merchants, and is fallen, is fallen.  Constantinople is Babylon the Great.

a desolation

A Temple

A beast in the making.  What makes a beast a beast?  Daniel knows beasts and the abomination of desolation mentioned by Jesus.  Babylon destroyed the first temple.  Greece desecrated the second and Rome destroyed it.  Islam and the Dome of the Rock is preventing the third.  The four beasts of Daniel.

a whore

A Great City

A fit with Babylon the Great.  Constantinople is fallen, is fallen, and can be found no more at all.  This is a mystery and likely to remain so.  It had seven mountains, many waters, and many merchants.  Constantinople is the only city with all these characteristics.  Why it is being ignored is definitely a mystery.

a great city

A Mystery Babylon

A sack of Constantinople in 1204.  Is fallen again in 1453 to Islam.  “Babylon is fallen, is fallen”, a prophecy fulfilled in history.  That includes a thousand year empire where they “reigned with Christ” and its capital Constantinople.  Babylon the Great is still a mystery and likely to remain so.  In the end it will be revealed.

a course correction

A Recognition Of A Great Man

A saint.  It only took 35 years but in 438 the remains of Chrysostom were brought to Constantinople and honored.  All his enemies were dead.  The crusaders in 1204 moved his remains to Rome 250 years before Constantinople fell to Islam and in 2004 John Paul the Great returned them.
