A Lot Of Courage –
A lot of Truth. A good listener. A thick skin. A lot of luck at being in the right place at the right time. Just show up, stay in your lane, and wait for your time to come. It will come. A lot of patience.

A Hearing Aid –
A sound not worth hearing. They mumble. They speak too fast. They don’t even care if I can hear them. They are expensive. They don’t really work that well. There are a lot of things that I don’t consider doing because of my hearing problem. I think that is a good thing.

A Child With His Mother At Church –
A special memory. She chose me to go with her to the early mass. My dad would take my two older brothers to a later mass. The younger ones stayed home.

A Room Where I Sit –
A lot of stuff I see on every horizontal surface. I should start with the floor so I don’t trip and fall. The waste basket is empty because I can’t decide what to throw away. It might be important or something I can use later. Envelopes that are not opened.

A Cat –
A bird would be second. Tiny, a black cat, was my favorite as a kid. My first pet and the scratches on my hands proved how much I played with it. Much later as a retiree I would feed feral cats on my patio and I loved them. We will never have too many cats.

A Forum –
A blog and email. Started with email 30 years ago. Forums 20 years and my blog 9 years. Can we talk? Have a dialogue? It can be a great experience but rarely happens. It helps when you have something to say.

A Spring Break –
A drive through the night. First experience with the light before dawn. My brother and I are in an old station wagon with a mattress in the back. Two girls who knew about a party would not get in the car when they saw the mattress.

A Cookie With My Coffee –
A chocolate chip is preferred. Something sweet with my black coffee. Waking up with a little instant energy.

A ZIP Code Truck –
A single electric vehicle delivering to each ZIP Code. One or two drivers making hourly deliveries. They know their people and their people know them. Just count the different trucks that now deliver in your neighborhood.

A Baby Raccoon –
A pet for a very short time. It died and I had to bury it. My brother killed the mother that was killing our neighbor’s chickens. My mother forced oatmeal down its throat and it was responding. It got out of the box I had it in and drowned in our basement sump pump. A very difficult time in my life.
