a victory over the beast

A Sea Of Glass Mingled With Fire

A key passage.  15:2  Greek fire was used and the “Sea of Marmara was like a sheet of glass”.  It was the “first Arab siege of Constantinople” by the Umayyad dynasty, the second dynasty of Islam, in 666.  Constantinople finally fell to the tenth dynasty of Islam, the Ottoman Empire, in 1453.

A Victory Over the Beast

A fit with Revelation 15:2.  Greek fire was used to defeat the Islamic attackers and the Sea of Marmara was like a sheet of glass.  The year was 666 based on Gibbon’s 46 years.  Put 46 in an Islamic calendar converter and you get 666.  It’s a calculation.  How do you count a number?

a problem with dates

A Historian

A calculation.  Go ahead, pick an Islamic calendar converter and put 46 in it. You get 666. 46 is the number Gibbon used. 46 years after the Hijri year Constantinople was attacked. A date is a mark. Gibbon notes the problems with dates.  Also noted is the Greek fire used to defeat the attackers.
