It must fit and that includes the king of the south, his daughter, and one of his commanders who is not a prince. Mohammed, his daughter Fatima, and Mu’awiya I who would be the king of the north are all good fits.

A connection between history and prophecy that can be trusted. Your interpretation? Not so much. Your translation? Not so much except for numbers and colors. Somehow they have survived what translators do to the Word of God. Some things are sacred.

A Thousand Years
A literal interpretation if possible is best. Start with big numbers like a thousand and 666 and see if they fit in history. The Byzantine Empire was a Christian empire that lasted a thousand years. It was attacked in the year 666. It was started by seven heads and ended by ten horns. It fits.

A history where prophecy is fulfilled. Only a prophet can predict the future. We can’t trust our interpretation of what is written. Even the translators can’t agree except for numbers and colors. We can trust numbers and colors and find a fit in history. Only then can we confirm a prophecy fulfilled.

A Recapitulation
A reinforcement, a necessary theory in understanding the Apocalypse first introduced by Victorinus of Pettau. It holds that the visions are not necessarily in chronological order and possibly a repetition of other visions. Many interpretation errors are a result of assuming the chapters are in chronological order.

A Color
A location for the four horsemen. The Red Sea and the Black Sea are obvious. The White Sea not so much unless you consider the Mediterranean Sea aka the white sea by the Turks. Like numbers, colors are not subject to interpretation and translation errors. You can trust them. Your interpretation not so much.

A Translation Problem
A commander or another interpretation problem if you are looking for the king of the north. There are eight different words in 52 different translations: princes 24, commanders 10, officers 7, officials 5, generals 2, leaders 2, principalities 1, subordinates 1. The word prince suggests a family member unlike the other seven words which have a similar meaning. Makes you wonder about words used in other parts of the bible. These are major differences in words used before you get to the problem of interpreting them. Reader beware.
