a writer

A John

A canon that only considers apostles.  So why did they think John wasn’t the apostle?  The apostle wouldn’t use his name five times.  He wouldn’t say lamb more times then Jesus.  The Baptist would since he didn’t know Jesus was the Lamb.  The apostle knew who “bare record”  and Jesus.

a conjecture

A Theory

A few have suggested multiple writers of the Apocalypse.  Vischer held that the Apocalypse was “originally a purely Jewish composition”. –  Josephine Massyngbaerde Ford may have been the first to suggest it was first written by John the Baptist.  Considering these possibilities can lead to a better understanding.

a revelation

A First Coming

A servant of God.  It was John the Baptist who “bare record” of the word of God.  John was preparing the way for the first coming which must shortly come to pass.  He was preparing the way for the “Lamb”, a word found 27 times in the Apocalypse. John the Baptist wrote the first Apocalypse and John the Apostle wrote the second.

a conjecture

A Jewish Composition

A German scholar Vischer held that the Apocalypse was “originally a purely Jewish composition”.  Taking away the seven churches and the 12 references to Jesus and you are left with the word “lamb” mentioned 27 times.  John the Baptist prepared the way for The Lamb of God.  He could have written the original Apocalypse.

a necessary question

A Reason for the Apocalypse

A revelation of what must shortly come to pass.  Why?  To prepare the way for the first coming.  The Lamb of God.  Not the second coming.  Jesus.  Lamb is mentioned 27 times.  Jesus is mentioned only 12 times.  John the Baptist prepared the way for the Lamb of God.  He didn’t know it was Jesus.

a revelation

A Servant Named John

a pure river of water of life.  The revelation is not so clear.  Where is clear.  Who, when, what and why are not clear at all.  John?  Three times he identifies himself as John.  The same John?  Consider three different Johns.  John the Baptist, John the Apostle, and John Chrysostom have all been considered.

a testimony

A Revelation of Jesus Christ

a blessing for reading and hearing this prophecy.  It must shortly come to pass.  The first coming.  Not the second.  John the Baptist was preparing the way.  John the Apostle knew this when he wrote to the seven churches.  John Chrysostom, your brother, knew that when he was in Ephesus and Jerome was finishing the Vulgate.

a bare record

A Servant of God

a “lamb” and the “bare record” ties John the Baptist to the Apocalypse.  Vischer holds the Apocalypse to have been originally a purely Jewish composition.  It would not have included the seven churches that Eusebius and Victorinus failed to recognize.  A reasonable explanation why they didn’t.

a lamb

A Lamb of God

a voice crying is the wilderness.  The word “lamb” is mentioned 27 times in the Apocalypse.  John the Baptist knew the “Lamb of God”.  He was preparing the way for “the time is at hand”.  John the Baptist did not know Jesus was the Lamb of God.  John the Apostle knew that and was also aware of his following.

a voice

A Wilderness

a preparation.  Repent for the time is near for the first coming.  The voice of John the Baptist.  That was then and now the time is near for the second coming.  The message is the same.  Prepare the way.  Repent.  He is the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come.  Get ready.
