A book by Eusebius does not mention Antipas but does mention Carpus and Papylus who are also martyrs from Pergamos. Six of the seven churches are mentioned but never associated with the Apocalypse. Is it possible that there was an early version that didn’t contain them?
A Problem For Historians
A letter to the church in Pergamos. Eusebius doesn’t know Antipas. Victorinus doesn’t know Antipas. They don’t know the churches either. No problem for speculators. There will be no need for speculation in the final days. Everything will be revealed. Knowledge shall be increased according to Daniel.
A Problem
with trust. It has been suggested that there was no martyr named Antipas. John was simply referring to the days of Herod Antipas. A time period. All the translators got it wrong. A plausible theory. So who or what can you trust? Numbers and colors. Somehow they all got that right.
A Famous Clue
that often goes unnoticed. What the early fathers of the Church wrote has been extensively studied but what has been overlooked is what the early fathers overlooked. A good example of this is Eusebius who was obsessed with martyrs didn’t mention Antipas in Chuch History. Martyrs from Pergamus are not missing, Carpus and Papylus, and a woman named Agathonice are mentioned as martyrs in Pergamus but not Antipas. Who has tried to explain this?

Victorinus doesn’t mention Antipas or the seven churches. Eusebius mentions six of the seven churches but never associates them with the Apocalypse. There is a reasonable explanation for this. Their copy did not have them. The first version written by John the Baptist.
