The common year for the Julian calendar was 44 BC. 622, the year of the Hijra, would be 666 in the Julian calendar. That does require a calculation and not a count as stated in some bibles.

A consistent interpretation. Numbers are one of the few things all 60 English versions of the bible agree on. They all agree on “a thousand years”, 666, “ten horns”, and “seven heads” . Can we find historical events that have all these numbers in a meaningful way? Start with the biggest number. A thousand years.

A key to understanding the Apocalypse. John knows Daniel and Daniel knows the number of years. The numbers John uses have been preserved in nearly all of the bible translations. They can be trusted in identifying historical events that might be a fulfillment of prophecy. Not just one number but all the numbers must fit.

A Number To Connect Them
A thousand years bracketed by seven dynasties of the Roman Empire, the third beast of Daniel, and the ten dynasties of Islam, the fourth beast of Daniel. Constantinople, a perfect fit for Babylon the Great, was started by the rider of the White Horse, attacked in 666 by the second dynasty of Islam, and destroyed by the tenth.
A Head Or A Horn
A number that fits. Count the dynasties of the Roman Empire. Seven as in “seven heads”. Count the dynasties of Islam or let them count for you. Ten as in “ten horns”. Let Daniel count the beasts. Four and the fourth one has “ten horns” just like the second beast of John having “seven heads and ten horns”. Count them.
