A Great City
A fit with Babylon the Great. Constantinople is fallen, is fallen, and can be found no more at all. This is a mystery and likely to remain so. It had seven mountains, many waters, and many merchants. Constantinople is the only city with all these characteristics. Why it is being ignored is definitely a mystery.

A Shame To Be Avoided
A blessing for those who keepeth their garments. Those who don’t might be exposed and judged “according to their works”. Watch for the signs. There will be a “a falling away” and the gospel will reach “unto all nations”. Therefore “be watchful” and be blessed for the “time is at hand” to reveal this prophecy.
A Mark
A bible passage fulfilled. A sea of glass mingled with fire. They used Greek fire on the Sea of Marmara, which was like a sheet of glass, and the year was 666. Historians stay away from the year 666 but there is no doubt as to what was going on at that time. Islam was attacking Constantinople.

A Mystery Babylon
A sack of Constantinople in 1204. Is fallen again in 1453 to Islam. “Babylon is fallen, is fallen”, a prophecy fulfilled in history. That includes a thousand year empire where they “reigned with Christ” and its capital Constantinople. Babylon the Great is still a mystery and likely to remain so. In the end it will be revealed.
A Year 666
A mark, a beginning, a Julian calendar starting in 44 BC. 622 of the Gregorian calendar, starting in 1582, marked the beginning of Islam. The Hegira marked the beginning of the Islamic calendar. 666 also marked the beginning of the attack on Constantinople if we look at Gibbon and his history.

A Recognition Of A Great Man
A saint. It only took 35 years but in 438 the remains of Chrysostom were brought to Constantinople and honored. All his enemies were dead. The crusaders in 1204 moved his remains to Rome 250 years before Constantinople fell to Islam and in 2004 John Paul the Great returned them.
A Thousand Years
A beast at the end. The Byzantine Empire was preceded by the Roman Empire and ended by the Ottoman Empire, the tenth dynasty of Islam. The ten horns that shall hate the whore. The seven heads are the seven dynasties of the Roman Empire. Another fit. What about the number 666? Will that fit?

A Translator
A life and time of Chrysostom by Chrysostomus Baur was translated by Sr. M. Gonzaga so the English might learn that he spent the first three months of 401 in Ephesus replacing seven corrupt bishops. Jerome was in Bethlehem completing the Vulgate which included the Apocalypse that was written on Patmos not far from Ephesus.
A Temple
A desolation. The abomination of desolation, spoken of by Jesus, leads us to the abomination in Daniel. They shall take away the daily sacrifice. That’s the Temple. The first one destroyed by Babylon. The second desecrated by Greece and destroyed by Rome. Islam is preventing the third. That is what makes a beast a beast.

A Patriarch In Exile
A great saint run out of town. Chrysostom appealed to the pope. This would lead to the Great Schism. While John was in Ephesus replacing seven corrupt bishops, those in power at Constantinople were conspiring against him. They had to get rid of him. They were the other bishops.
