A Second John Who Ate The Book
A reasonable explanation for the three Johns of the Apocalypse. John the Baptist is the first who bare record. John the Apostle is the second to the seven churches. John Chrysostom is the third who was in Ephesus just before Jerome defined the bible that would become the official bible of the Church.

A prophecy repeated. John the Apostle to the seven churches. John the Baptist who bare record knew the Lamb of God and the Apostle knew the Baptist. John Chrysostom, a third john and a brother, was in Ephesus at the beginning of the fifth century when Jerome was finishing the Vulgate, the official bible of the Church.

A Dog That Didn’t Bark
A commentary by Victorinus on the Apocalypse. He mentions the seven churches that Paul wrote to but not the ones John wrote to. Eusebius has the same problem. He mentions six of the seven churches of the Apocalypse but never associates any of them with the Apocalypse.

A Denial Of Self
A watch of what goes into the mouth. Don’t forget what comes out of it. Take up your cross and follow Him. Which way did He go? He went to Jerusalem to suffer and die for us. Watch and listen, if you “hath an ear”. Listen to what has been said. What the Spirit said to the seven churches. If you want to avoid the second death, listen.
A Reason For The Apocalypse
A first coming “which must shortly come to pass”. John the Baptist was preparing the way for the Lamb of God. Look for the word “lamb” in the Apocalypse. John the Apostle knew John the Baptist who knew the Lamb. He “bare record”. John the second added Jesus, Antipas, and the “seven churches”. The third John, “your brother”, is next.
A commentary by Victorinus does not mention the seven churches of the Apocalypse but does mention the churches Paul wrote to. It is possible that he and Eusebius had an early version of the Apocalypse that did not contain the seven churches. History helps us understand what is possible.
A Church History
A book by Eusebius does not mention Antipas but does mention Carpus and Papylus who are also martyrs from Pergamos. Six of the seven churches are mentioned but never associated with the Apocalypse. Is it possible that there was an early version that didn’t contain them?
A Problem with the Churches
A strange commentary by Victorinus. He mentions the churches Paul wrote to but not the ones John wrote to. This is hard to believe but it would be consistent with both Eusebius and Victorinus looking at the Apocalypse John the Baptist wrote and that would not include the seven churches.

A Church History
A problem with the churches. Eusebius mentions six of the seven churches of the Apocalypse but never associates them with the Apocalypse. He doesn’t mention Antipas. All this would be consistent with an earlier version of the Apocalypse written by John the Baptist. Victorinus has a similar problem.

A First Coming
A kingdom at hand. The time was near. John the Baptist knew the Lamb, a word used 27 times in the Apocalypse. He wrote the first one. Later John the apostle added Jesus and the seven churches. He knew about the followers of John the Baptist in Ephesus. There must be a third John.
