A “testimony of Jesus Christ”. The last book of the bible. A mystery that somehow communicates hope. A necessary ingredient in times of tribulation. You can overcometh. Listen, if you have an ear, to what the Spirit said to the churches.
A Church History
A dog that didn’t bark. A commentary that doesn’t include the seven churches. A Church history that doesn’t connect the seven churches with the Apocalypse. Is there a reasonable explanation? Their version of the Apocalypse did not mention the seven churches. There are other reasons to suspect this.

A Book To Eat
A reason to believe there is more than one version of the Apocalypse. John the Apostle who knew followers of the Baptist in Ephesus added the seven churches. He is the second John who would eat the book and prophesy again, The apostle ate the book written by the Baptist. The name of Jesus was added by him.
A Commentary With Missing Churches
A reason to believe an early Apocalypse. Victorinus wrote a commentary with missing churches. Eusebius wrote a Church History and mentions 6 of the seven churches but never connects them with the Apocalypse. This suggests an early version of the Apocalypse that did not contain the churches.
A Problem with the Churches
A strange commentary by Victorinus. He mentions the churches Paul wrote to but not the ones John wrote to. This is hard to believe but it would be consistent with both Eusebius and Victorinus looking at the Apocalypse John the Baptist wrote and that would not include the seven churches.

A problem with the churches. Eusebius mentions six of the seven churches of the Apocalypse but never associates them with the Apocalypse. He doesn’t mention Antipas. All this would be consistent with an earlier version of the Apocalypse written by John the Baptist. Victorinus has a similar problem.

A Lamb of God. A “bare record” clearly points to John the Baptist. So does the word “lamb”. This also explains why the time is at hand. He was preparing the way for the first coming. John the apostle knew all this when he added the seven churches and Jesus to his version of the Apocalypse.

A time of great suffering. A time to listen to what the spirit is saying to the churches. If you overcometh, you will not be hurt by the second death. The death of the soul. You need not worry about what can kill the body. This is a test and suffering is a big part of it. And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.

A reason to listen if you have an ear. Listen to what the Spirit is saying to the seven churches. Listen to what others are being told. Listen to what has been foretold. These are the signs that the end is near. Watch. Persevere. Repent. You must overcometh. Come, Lord Jesus.
