A Patriarch In Exile 

A great saint run out of town.  Chrysostom appealed to the pope.  This would lead to the Great Schism.  While John was in Ephesus replacing seven corrupt bishops, those in power at Constantinople were conspiring against him.  They had to get rid of him.  They were the other bishops.

a coincidence 

A Connection With Numbers 

A prophecy fit with history.  Early in the fifth century five of the seven dynasties of the Roman Empire had fallen.  The beast that was was not.  And yet to come are the ten dynasties of Islam that attacked and destroyed Constantinople,  Babylon the Great, seven heads, and ten horns.

A Beginning Of The Fifth Century 

A connection of dots:  in chapter seven of Book Twenty in “City of God” by Augustine is his first commentary on the Apocalypse of John which came after Jerome put it in his Vulgate and that came after Chrysostom replaced seven corrupt bishops in Ephesus not far from Patmos.
