There is a reason, a meaning, and a purpose for everything. You will find it if you look for it. You have an obligation, a duty to respect it. The child should not suffer the convenience of an adult.

Can you trust them? They have a lot to protect and that does not include defending Church teachings. They have done a good job of protecting homosexual priests but they call that clericalism. At least they have a name for it.
