A Translation Problem 

a commander or another interpretation problem if you are looking for the king of the north. There are eight different words in 52 different translations: princes 24, commanders 10, officers 7, officials 5, generals 2, leaders 2, principalities 1, subordinates 1. The word prince suggests a family member unlike the other seven words which have a similar meaning. Makes you wonder about words used in other parts of the bible. These are major differences in words used before you get to the problem of interpreting them. Reader beware.

a different interpretation.  Would you believe 60 different English interpretations?  They can’t agree on the Word of God.  Who or what can you trust?  Numbers?  Numbers in the bible somehow survived all the translations.  All the versions.  All the interpretations.  Numbers can help us connect history to the prophecies.

A Fulfillment 

a historical event.  Only history can confirm the fulfillment of a prophecy.  Based on your interpretation.  Can it be trusted?  Can your bible translation be trusted?   Can 60 different English translations of the bible be trusted?  They don’t agree on the “word of God”.  Do they agree on anything?  Maybe numbers.

A Color 

a guide to interpretation.  You can trust numbers and maybe colors to be reliably translated.  Not so much with the other words.  The “words of God” are seen differently by the many different translators.  Who can you trust?  Historians.  What can you trust?  Maybe numbers.  Historians have trouble with dates but they do get close enough.

A Him Or An It 

a translation problem.  Can you find the beast if you are looking for a “him” instead of an “it”? In Revelation 13:1; 20 have “his horns”, 20 have “its horns”, 15 have “It had ten horns” .  We need Daniel 7:7 to clear this up.  “it had ten horns” is a clear winner.  You need to look for an “it” and not a “him” to find the beast.

a general or other?  Good luck if you are looking for the king of the north.  The translators can’t agree on Daniel 11:5.  24 think he was a prince and 28 think he was anything but a prince.  princes 24, commanders 11, officers 7, officials 5, generals 2, leaders 2, subordinates 1 – Go figure.  Who can you trust?

a version of each translation.  Before the printer, no two bibles were alike.  Now no two translations are alike.  And there are way too many.  About 60 English translations.  Each translation has more than one version.  So the “Word of God” is subject to translations, revisions, and interpretation.  For the most part they agree on numbers.

A Folly 

according to Isaac Newton.  Even translators of the bible are interpreting the written word.  Can you trust them?  What can you trust?  Numbers and history.  We have at least 59 different English translations and somehow they all agree on the numbers.  Apparently numbers can be interpreted literally.
