a little book

A Second John –

A prophecy repeated.  John the Apostle to the seven churches.  John the Baptist who bare record knew the Lamb of God and the Apostle knew the Baptist.  John Chrysostom, a third john and a brother,  was in Ephesus at the beginning of the fifth century when Jerome was finishing the Vulgate, the official bible of the Church.

a brother

A Third John –

A patriarch was in Ephesus replacing seven corrupt bishops.  At the time five of the seven dynasties of the Roman Empire had already fallen  and Jerome was finishing the Vulgate.  He may have needed a reliable copy of the Apocalypse to translate.  John Chrysostom was someone you could trust.

a testimony

A Book of Revelation –

A bare record.  A revelation to shew unto his servants.  That’s plural.  There is more than one John.  John the Baptist who bare record.  John the Apostle to the seven churches.  John Chrysostom who also am your brother.  It’s complicated but I can explain it if you are really interested.

a first coming

A Reason for the Apocalypse –

A preparation for the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  This was a job for John the Baptist.  He knew the Lamb.  He knew Daniel.  He knew the Old Testament.  He bare record.  He was the first John.  John the Apostle was the second.  Chrysostom was the third.  It’s complicated but it can be explained.

a revelation

A Testimony of Jesus Christ –

A “bare record”.  It was John the Baptist “who bare record”.  It was John the Apostle who wrote “to the seven churches”.  It was John Chrysostom, “who also am your brother”, who was in Ephesus when Jerome was finishing his Vulgate and needed a reliable copy of the Apocalypse.  Three Johns.  Really.
