A Third John –
A patriarch was in Ephesus replacing seven corrupt bishops. At the time five of the seven dynasties of the Roman Empire had already fallen and Jerome was finishing the Vulgate. He may have needed a reliable copy of the Apocalypse to translate. John Chrysostom was someone you could trust.

A Reason For The Apocalypse
A first coming “which must shortly come to pass”. John the Baptist was preparing the way for the Lamb of God. Look for the word “lamb” in the Apocalypse. John the Apostle knew John the Baptist who knew the Lamb. He “bare record”. John the second added Jesus, Antipas, and the “seven churches”. The third John, “your brother”, is next.
A supper you don’t want to miss. It is all about the Lamb. The Apocalypse. John the Baptist knew the Lamb but he didn’t know it was Jesus. That is why you see the word “lamb” 27 times and the name “Jesus” only 12 times. John the Apostle knew this and added “Jesus” and the seven churches. Your brother, and companion in tribulation was the third John. Really.
A Reasonable Explanation
as to when it was written. We all know it was written by John. Which John? We have three to choose from. John who bare record. John to the seven churches. John who is our brother. To say they are all the same John is not reasonable. You have to consider the possibility that they are different.
