A Temple –
A desolation. Babylon destroyed the first temple. Greece desecrated the second. Rome destroyed the second. Islam is preventing the third. The four beasts of Daniel. They all messed with the temple. That is what determines a beast in the mind of Daniel. John seems to agree. Jesus mentioned it. What is in the holy place now? The Dome of the Rock.

A Bear –
A leopard. A connection with the beasts of Daniel. John knows Daniel knows beasts. Also in common are the ten horns. John’s beast was like a leopard, a bear, and a lion. A revelation in Daniel. What makes a beast a beast? Daniel knows beasts and abominations. Jesus wanted us to pay attention to them. An abomination is something that you do to the holy place. The Temple. Only a beast would mess with the Temple. With only two Temples, how do you get four beasts?

A fit with Daniel. Saladin came out of the Fatimid Caliphate, the fourth of ten Islamic dynasties, and would start the fifth, the Ayyubid dynasty. We also have the Battle of the Horns of Hama and the Battle of the Horns of Hattin. Saladin was involved in both of them. He not only beat the crusaders, he beat Richard the Lionheart. It’s a fit.

The “ten horns” are the ten dynasties of Islam. Counted by Islamic sources. The Ottoman Empire, the tenth dynasty, ended the thousand year Christian empire, The Byzantine Empire, in 1453.

A horn is a dynasty and before whom there were three of the first horns. Saladin came out of the Fatimid Caliphate, the fourth of ten Islamic dynasties, and would start the fifth, the Ayyubid dynasty. A Translation Issue
A beast. Your bible could have as many as 296 beasts or as few as 87. There are 20 translations that consider the beast in Revelation 13:1 a ‘he’ and 37 translations call it an ‘it’. This is a significant difference. Daniel 7:7 can help us here. The fourth beast is an it in all 52 translations. It has ten horns just like the beast in Revelation.
