a personal trait most valued

A Thinker –

A need to make sense of everything. My dad often said to me, “Sometimes we think too much.” One Christmas his brother gave all my brothers and sisters a dollar but gave me this cartoon of someone sitting behind a desk with the caption, “I am so smart I make myself sick”.  I didn’t like being singled out so early in life and had to think about that.

What’s the trait you value most about yourself?

a cultural heritage

A Family Reunion –

A reunion of any kind can promote strong family ties and long lasting friendships. An interest in ancestry produced a number of old pictures of family reunions which we continued. Early on I found myself doing school and work reunions in addition to family ones. They were all special and well worth the necessary efforts to arrange them. It all starts with the family. Protect it.

What aspects of your cultural heritage are you most proud of or interested in?

a brand name

A Name To Trust –

A necessary thing. Trust. Who or what can you trust nowadays? Lucky me, I can afford to pay extra for name brands and could easily give you a list of ten but I will only name one. Boar’s Head. They had a problem and they fixed it. They brought back my favorite knockwurst.

What brands do you associate with?

a favorite album

A Tough Call –

A first and second. Simon & Garfunkel and The Mamas & the Papas. The clear winner is Simon for this passage: In the clearing stands a boxer
And a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of every glove that laid him down
Or cut him till he cried out
In his anger and his shame
“I am leaving, I am leaving”

But the fighter still remains

Over 50 years later it still haunts me.

An honorable mention to “Jesus Christ Superstar”

a history of religion

A Most Important Topic –

A need to know. When teaching religion, I asked a history teacher how important history was. She replied how important religion was when teaching history. Religion drives history. The bible is a history book. Religion and history cannot be separated. Would like to be more informed about that.
