A Salt Dump –
A cap removed. The salt shaker doesn’t have a cap, just a strainer which I accidentally removed and dumped a whole lot of salt into my favorite chili. That is when I learned that too much salt, like not enough salt, can kill you.

A Necessary Moderation –
A health issue due to excessive consumption. Coffee and beer. The beer one was easy. I got gout. A nurse on the internet told me everything I needed to know. The coffee one I had figured out myself. It started with the 12 cup coffee maker. I now have the 5 cup and have to leave 2 cups for her. I still drink beer but only 2 or 3 instead of 4 or 5. Moderation in all things including moderation. BTW I still smoke, a pipe, once a day and don’t inhale.

A Meat –
A beef. Ground beef. Turkey, dark meat only, is second. Mexican is my favorite ethnic food. The only one I would never give up. My granddaughter once said, “the one with the most restaurants wins.” They have the margarita. Who can compete with that?

A Senior Activity –
A joint problem. Replacement is on the rise. Too much walking after 70 could be an issue. Bike riding may be a better solution because joints are not loaded and there is more flexing. Something that should be considered.

A Responsible Position –
A person in charge. Found myself there more than a few times, mostly by accident. Did not seek it. You make more than a few enemies real quick. It can be rewarding and I don’t regret any of it. It is a lot of work. Something I try to avoid.

A Thinker –
A feeling is a reaction. Thinking is what we should do before saying or doing anything. What do you think? That is the question. Not, what do you feel? What do you think about that?

A Baseball Game –
A month for sports. October is the end of baseball and the beginning of football. Old movies take a back seat. My favorite is football, the only real team sport where everyone has a different job to do. What is your job? Think about it.

A Red Flag –
A negative emotion. Thinking is better than feeling. The thinking one is the quiet one. The loud one is more worried about being heard than being right. We should ask what they are thinking. Should we care about what they are feeling? Can we get them to think?

A Day Of Rain –
A full moon. A red sky. Birds at the water dish. Hummingbirds fighting over the feeder. Cats at the window. A dailyprompt. The football and baseball teams winning. A long nap during the day. A nice breeze. No doctor appointments. Low humidity. 80 degrees max. Lots of sunshine. Plenty of shade. A bike ride with no dogs. Waving to neighbors from the rocking chair. Who could ask for more?

A Most Respected –
A kicker, an announcer, and an alcoholic. Pat Summerall. With only seconds left on the clock, a kicker is often asked to win the game. There was a time when many would watch a game just because Madden and Summerall were the announcers.
