A Commentary on the Apocalypse – 

A dog that didn’t bark.  Victorinus didn’t mention the churches.  He does mention the seven churches that Paul wrote to.  So why not mention the seven churches that John wrote to?  It is possible that his version of the Apocalypse didn’t have the seven churches.  We need to look at Eusebius to see if he has the same problem.

  1. What I find interesting about the seven churches is:

    Out of the seven churches John wrote to in the book of Revelations. Only two of them show up in the end time. We know that from this statement in Rev 1:20 ‘the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches. “

    John wrote to each of the churches and warned them that their lampsstand can be removed from its place if their actions are not in line with God’s will . We see this in Rev 2:5 “Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent. “

    Five of the seven churches are removed before the last trump. we can see this in Rev 11:4 “These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands “

    And there are only two lampstands left as stated in Rev 11:4 “These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands “

    So the better question is, who is these two churches that are left? Most of today’s Christians teach there is only one church, certainly not two. Just one church is correct when we speak of Jesus Christ church. His church resides is those who does his will, not some religious organization on earth.

      1. John explains in Rev 11:4 that the two churches are both lamp-stand’s and churches. Of course, you don’t see much talk about it out there.

        Rev 11: 4 “These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands “

      2. But you have to keep in mind, John tells us in
        Rev 1:20 “the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches.”
